The virtual tour is now available for everyone

The Castle of Santa Severa, a space of Regione Lazio managed by LAZIOcrea, in collaboration with the Municipality of Santa Marinella and Coopculture, has made the virtual tour from the ancient Etruscan port to the sanctuary of Pyrgi available for everyone on the institutional website www.castellodisantasevera.it , to be virtually open as all Italian and world museums are doing.

The new musealization of the Rocca Museum created in 2018 by LAZIOcrea on a project by the architect Carlo Lococo with the scientific advice of Flavio Enei, houses a room on the ground floor with several stations equipped with viewers where you can try a virtual reality experience accompanied by the narrator Mario Tozzi, a well-known geologist and scientific popularizer. During this trip, the visitor will board a Phoenician ship and go to discover the temples in the ancient area of Pyrgi.

The city was one of the ports of Caere (ancient Cerveteri) and between the 6th and 4th centuries BC. it represented one of the most important commercial ports of the Mediterranean basin and possessed at least two sanctuaries of international importance: a temple from the end of the 6th century BC. dedicated to Uni / Astarte (called Temple B in the excavation area) and a temple from the first half of the 5th century BC. dedicated to Thesan / Leucotea (Temple A) in addition to the famous “gold sheets” found on 8 July 1964 during an excavation campaign directed by Massimo Pallottino at Santa Severa. Visitors, with the reopening of the complex, will be able to download a free mobile app with virtual reality and augmented reality for IOS and Android, developed by LAZIOcrea, that will offer information and try the virtual reality experience included in the visit.
